I think people are portrayed this way in the media, just so it catches more attention and media has a really powerful affect on most audiences. People who are normally used in the media are skinny, have developed body parts and have a lot of makeup on. This way this idealization that this is how others will be interested in their works/products is a great one. People follow most of what is shown in television/magazines/movies etc.
2. How are you affected by the images you see?
I am not really affected by the images I have seen. Really, the media is just coming up with all these ideal appearances that no one should be paying any attention to. Also, I don't really care much about the media and therefore am barely influenced by it, I am happy with how I look, it's who I am.
3. What can be done to reduce the amount of young men and women that are negatively affected by these images?
The creators of the images that are shown in the media should avoid using these models that really aren't seen around on a daily basis everyday walking around the streets. They should use anyone and everyone no matter how they look to portray their messages. I think there wouldn't be much of any difference since, women and men would be more positive about all these images since it is more of a relation to them. They should also stop photoshoping/fixing the photos to an extent that the person is changed completely into a whole different look. That would offend and definitely send negative impact on audiences that the media has to fix people's appearances because they aren't satisfied with how they truly genuinely look.
4. What would your reaction be to a magazine cover where the subject isn't all glammed up? Is this a possible route that society should take? Why or why not?
My reaction to a magazine cover where the subject isn't all glammed up would be instant respect to the makers and I would be pretty impressed and amazed. Since it really isn't something you would see everyday, in fact almost never that the subject isn't all 'glammed up' This should definitely be a possible route that society should take, it will have more of a positive affect to all audiences. In fact I think if doing this it would be more eye catching than the usual same old "ideal image" sort of thing.
